Terrorist attacks in London 22nd March 2017

Hi guys, I'd been so busy with work and I had been trying to do another post (which I'll complete soon I hope) that I haven't thought of commenting on the London terrorist attacks of yesterday. I was at my desk working when it all happened, I was fairly unaware of what had happened. When friends finally alerted me as to what had happened, I checked the news a few times throughout the day and my first feeling was relief, that it wasn't as serious as some of the other attacks like the ones in Berlin and Nice (which was truly horrifying). It had been exactly one year since the horrific attacks in Brussels, I don't know if I'm just getting used to witnessing such horrible news all the time now that I am no longer easily shocked any more and that can't be a good thing. And no, I didn't know anyone injured or killed.
My friends in Singapore bombarded me with messages on Facebook to check if I was okay - I was like, it's a Wednesday afternoon, I'd either be at my desk working or in a client meeting, I won't be walking across Westminster bridge or taking photos of Big Ben in the middle of the afternoon. Typically when a story like that happens, the news is sketchy at first as the police wouldn't make a statement for a while - the first story we heard was that of shots being fired outside parliament, then the horror of what happened on the bridge slowly emerged. All in all, with 5 dead and over 40 injured, this is still not as deadly as some of the other terrorist attacks in living memory - like the one in Paris in 2015 or even the 2005 July bombs in London which I lived through as well - 56 people died in that and nearly 800 were injured. I went to the gym tonight, most of the people there didn't want to talk about it even if I did raise it a few times. I don't think people know how to react, possibly they are in shock or maybe in denial? Or they just didn't care?

I've got a busy day ahead of me then I am flying to France for a long weekend on Friday morning, I've no intention to change any of my plans. London is still going to be full of people over the next few days, we're not going anywhere - many of us have lived through shit like that. I don't know - many of my friends at the gym tonight, perhaps like them, I'd rather not contemplate the horror of what happened. I was last in that vicinity, walking down that same street where it happened with my family, when they came to visit me in November. Will it sink in at some stage? I don't know - I will be spending this weekend in SW France, far away from London and perhaps I'll write more about this when I am back from France. Stay safe, happy and healthy my friends. Thanks for your concern my friends, many thanks for reading.
