The third tone in Mandarin Chinese

Hi guys, I made this video for my British friends who are learning Mandarin - there are some things that I just take for granted as I have been brought up by a Mandarin-speaking father who refused to speak to me in English, but for those approaching Mandarin as a foreign language, the tones confuse the heck out of them. Mind you, I was inspired to do this video when I was challenged to explain the third tone and I did my research - there is actually a fairly big difference between the way it is meant to be pronounced and how it ends up being truncated most of the time. I have always just truncated all my third tones as a matter of habit, but I did have fun trying to explain this in the video. Mind you, I had so much footage but I had to edit it to keep it under 5 minutes as I didn't want this video to be too long and I think I've had enough examples to make my point about the issue. I have done a video about Chinese people struggling with English, so I thought I'd do one about English people struggling with Mandarin! Thank you for watching.
