Best festive wishes from London!

Hello everyone, I hope you've had a nice Christmas day. I've had a quiet day - skyped my family and that's always a frustrating experience. I had sworn to myself, I have put the whole previous episode behind me and I'm not going to revisit it. And so I mentioned that I have been very sick and my parents were like, oh - why did you go to Germany to do my TV programme then if you were so sick? Just call in sick lah. Cue #facepalm. I had to explain that there was a huge team of producers, directors, actors all waiting for me to shoot this TV programme in Germany - I was a part of a team and I couldn't let me team down. They didn't get it - at all. "If you have a fever, then you cannot work what?" Groan. They didn't understand the situation. I tried to tell myself that this is their way of expressing concern for my health - but I guess they never held a job that was so important that you simply had to work even if you had a fever.

With no disrespect to teachers, well, my parents were teachers. If they had a fever, they just didn't go to work - some other teacher may take their classes or the students would just be told to revise on their own. I remember when I was in primary school, yeah sometimes the teacher didn't turn up and it wasn't the end of the world. And then they asked, "did you go see a doctor?" And I said no, because firstly, it's just the flu - you take your medicine and rest, you don't need to spend money to go see a doctor. And secondly, I already feel much better so I am on the mend. And they were like, "oh no, you had better go see a doctor anyway so the doctor can double check." Cue more #facepalm. I forgot the way my family used to spend so much time and money at the local family GP in Ang Mo Kio over the most minor ailments and antibiotics were prescribed for the mildest of sore throats.

Anyway, I did get a bike ride in and a friend sent me a link to watch The Interview online - that was my little Christmas treat. It was disappointing - after all that fuss about it, I was hoping for a classic but it was too low-brow for my liking. So if you're desperately looking for a link to watch it because you're curious - don't. Save yourself two hours of your life. I really should get back to my tax return now - I'm doing it in modest chunks so that by the end of December, it should be all ready for submission. OK people, have a lovely festive holiday. Thank you for reading.
