My first article on Alvinology: Paris Q&A

Hi everyone. I have made my debut as a contributing writer on Alvinology with an article on Paris entitled Paris Q&A: let's deal with some myths about Paris. I am very excited about working with Alvinology as Alvin is a great blogger. I want to be able to reach a far wider audience with my writing and I am hoping to tap into some of Alvinology's many readers with my travel writing, especially since there is already a great archive of travel writing on Alvinology.

I have studied the statistics on my blog and I know what attracts the most amount of traffic to my blog: it is when I offer insightful analysis into topical issues in the news, such as my most recent piece on the anti-social behaviour of PRCs abroad. Now that piece just went viral in such a big way, generating thousands of views within the first 24 hours. My travel writing however, tends not to get that kind of traffic and that does frustrate me - I think I am a pretty decent travel writer and I want more people to read my travel writing. Certainly compared to some of the other travel writers on Alvinology, I've been to even more countries (46 at latest count) compared to them. Thus I will be channeling my travel writing through Alvinology from now on and whilst still pretty much doing what I do here on my blog/vlog.

Please click through to read my article on Paris here on Alvinology. I hope you will like it, merci beaucoup!

  1. Hi Alex, I think the reason why your travel articles don't get many views is not necessarily because you're a poor travel writer, but because most of your audience just isn't interested in travel. I suspect your blog attracts people who are far more keen on analysis of current affairs.

    1. Hiya Puppet, thanks for your message. I am glad to get your vote of confidence when it comes to my travel writing. It is an area I am passionate about simply because I totally love traveling (currently planning my next trip already, in September) and I want to share the experiences both good and bad. You see, for me, as a child, I didn't get to travel much as my parents hated traveling so much so I didn't get to leave Singapore much and when we did, my parents would complain about everything and were literally counting the days before we returned to S'pore. Some people just don't enjoy traveling and my parents are precisely like that - so as a child, reading travel writing meant so much to me to at least experience another country through the writing of another traveler. That's why when I did have the chance to travel as an adult, I really wanted to do some travel writing and now that I am given this platform via Alvinology, I hope to reach a wider audience with my travel writing :)

In the meantime, look out for yet another article on China Wine, cos I know it's what my readers like :)
