LIFT Vlog 71: Trakai, Lithuania

Hi guys, the latest episode of my vlog is now ready. I shall be bringing you to the beautiful lakes region of Trakai in Lithuania, I have changed the format of my vlog again, in order to boost the popularity of the videos. In the past, these vlog pieces were just a way to share with my viewers some of the sights and sounds from my travels - only a few became popular whilst some got very few hits. With this new format, I've packed in a lot more information about logistics like transport, weather, what to do when you are there, how much stuff costs etc - this has been inspired by some of the other travel vlogs I have seen such as Abroad in Japan, Eatyourkimchi and Only in Japan; these vloggers often give a lot of practical travel tips in their Youtube videos. I hope you will like this video, many thanks for watching.

  1. Hi Alex, welcome back, I trust that you had a lovely trip to Lietuva? I really love the track from the train station to Trakai and over the lake. Did you manage to sample a cepalinai? It was a challenge which went badly for me and got really sick after forcing myself to chomp down a stuffed potato dumpling ladened with pork lard and sour cream.

    1. Cepelanai?!?!?! We saw a picture of it on a menu and Rob said no no no no no no so we never had it. I looked gross. It's basically boiled potato with stuff in it. Anyway, we had Kibinai - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kibinai a bit hit and miss. We bought one at a street market in Trakai and it was glorious - full of chunky meat and oozing with cheese. Then we bought one in a supermarket and it was terrible. Cheap sausage meat, yucks. Thanks, I am glad I let Rob talk me out of eating that potato dumpling.

    2. Lol, you didn't miss much. It's the most stodgy thing I ever had. The only term I could use is "jelly" maxima. Trakai though is lovely and dreamy. Next time, aim for the Curonian spit.
