Chystám sa na Slovenskom v Decembri!

Hi guys, I am off to Poprad, Slovakia in mid December - just a long weekend, Friday to Monday. I am getting a reasonably early flight on Friday which will give me plenty of time to look around the relatively small city with a quaint old town center, very charming indeed. Did you now that at the altitude of 718m,  Poprad airport is the highest airport in Europe with scheduled commercial flights, making it ideal for ski holidays? I think that it is going to be fairly similar to Brasov in Romania which I visited earlier this year, except Poprad is a smaller town than Brasov. I shall be skiing on Saturday and Sunday and then I will fly back to London at lunchtime on Monday. I managed to get reasonably cheap flights with Wizzair and sorted my accommodation in central Poprad out with AirBNB - seriously, if you haven't tried AirBNB yet then click here to accept my offer of a free voucher to get you started on it, what have you got to lose?
I love my winter holidays.

I have only been to Slovakia once before in 2011 (for my Funfon ad shoot, see video below - I am the Eskimo with the lines), so I am looking forward to going again. I have always had a fascination with the Czech Republic and Slovakia because the name 'Czechoslovakia' had always fascinated me as a child because it was such a long and complex name for a country. I remember making sentences in primary one with the word Czechoslovakia every time I could in class and my teachers were just bemused as to why I would be so obsessed with that word. I am also fascinated with the High Tatras mountains, especially since that video of the perfectly clear frozen lake went viral a few years ago (I have included the video below as well). Skiing in December is always a little bit risky as you don't know if there will be enough snow yet, but heck, it's a chance I will take for now. I think money will be tighter once I get another mortgage for the new flat, so I may as well enjoy more holidays whilst I can!  I have another article coming up soon, ciao for now.
