Dear Limpeh,
ReplyDeleteHope you had a good trip. I have been reading your blog for a number of years now.
Recently, I was naturalized as a British citizen; while I am still a Singaporean currently, I am sorting out the paperwork that is needed to renounce Singaporean citizenship.
When you renounced Singapore citizenship, how did you get your certificate of naturalization and British passport certified as true copies? Officially according to the Singapore authorities, those documents have to be certified by the relevant government authorities; in the UK, that would mean getting the documents certified first by a /public notary/solicitor/Post Office?/ then getting it legalized by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
However, if in practice they allowed just a certified copy, that would make it a lot more convenient and cheaper as well. What was your experience?
Thank you for your help.
Hi John, sorry I really can't be of much help here as I went through this process years ago and I can't remember the details of the paperwork, I am trying to recall the details but I'm afraid I can't remember - in any case, it is best to consult them directly rather than ask me.
