Corfu Old Town in Greece |
I've been busy learning Greek and Albanian (well, mostly Greek as I will be spending most of my time in Greece and it's been really difficult but that's the challenge. I love the way those Greek letters look and it's fun to deal with an alphabet that's quite different. Albanian uses the Roman alphabet but goodness me, trying to learn just one of these languages is hard enough but to try to take on two extremely hard languages at the same time - that reminds me of the summer of 2010 when I studied Finnish, Estonian and Russian all at the same time for that grand trip of the Baltics. This is the best part of traveling for me - having to learn another language (nah, English is too boring for me)! OK, I will speak to you guys soon, keep the comments coming - I can moderate the comments whilst on holidays. Ciao for now!
Hey LIFT hows the greco albanian escape? I am rather surprise that they are actually not as warm as the British summer. Sort of strange, guess El Nino just threw everything topsy turvy. Anyway, do let us know how things are like in greece. Sigh, wish can head back there to escape the humidity and crowds in Sg.
ReplyDeleteHi Shane, erm, I am still in my flat packing, the flight doesn't leave for another 11 hours yet. But yeah, summer can get baking hot in London - but it comes and goes in spurts. We had a spell of very hot weather which then ended with some heavy downpours, then it's beginning to heat up again this week. I remember the summer of 2003 when we had 38.5 degrees and it was like that in the high 30s for weeks. I made sure I had a lie in this morning as I am travelling through the night tonight... Going to leave my flat at about 6 pm and getting into my accommodation in Corfu at about 4 am ish - yikes. There's always a catch to those cheap flights.
DeleteOh well, such things happen. Just back after a lovely long weekend getaway to BKK. Caught the last flight out last Friday and first flight in yesterday - not the best of timing but thats what happen to cheapies like me who go for budget flights. Hmm surprisingly, BKK felt cooler than in Sg - temp was up but the place was breezy (hmm except in Chatuchak of course!) which took some of the sting out of the tropical heat. Back home in Sg where we all wilted in the heavy humidity and stillness. Easy on the souvlaki and moussaka!
