We also talked about a lot of other things as well - more personal stuff, so it was stuff I didn't record and couldn't put on Youtube anyway, but I was well and truly impressed by his vision, confidence and ambition. Here's a young man who knows he is very talented and is not afraid to see how far his talent will take him - I say, good for him and I really do want to see him continue doing his comedy and become a huge international star. We discussed some of the challenges he faces as a comedian in Singapore and yeah, I couldn't talk about that on my blog either - but it suffices to say that Singapore does not have a conducive environment for comedians, as you can imagine lah...
The thing about recording with an iPhone though is that the sound quality can be really bad, especially if you're shooting in a noisy place, like in the middle of the crowded supermarket. You really need to be standing right next to the person you're recording and have them speaking right at the iPhone - otherwise if you're standing behind them or a few feet away, you actually get so little sound on the video it is frustrating. But here's the best of what I have captured.
Oh and Hirzi has watched some of my Youtube videos - yeah! He doesn't follow by Vlog but he has seen my mutli-lingual comedy videos and has in fact helped me with Malay in the past when I needed it for a performance earlier this year, so there is a certain Youtubers camaraderie between us as we both understand the challenges of scripting, shooting, producing, starring in your own videos for Youtube and having to do all the post-production yourself and the pain of doing subtitles. The post-production for this short 4 minute video took about 2.5 hours!

I would like to conclude by sharing with you a conversation I had with my parents - they did wonder how I got to know people like Hirzi Zulkiflie and Alvin Tan, they even asked me questions like, "did you go to school with them?" Erm no, hello? I am at least 12 years older than both Hirzi and Alvin, like how could I possibly be at school at the same time as either of them given the age difference?! Welcome to the wonderful age of social media - I love reaching out to others active on social media if I like what they do and express my support and friendship, simply to say, "hey well done, I love what you do - let's be friends". There is this bloggers/vloggers camaraderie and networking is part and parcel of the whole social media process. So yes, that's how I got to know Hirzi and Alvin in the first place, I simply dropped them an email, they replied and thus we became friends. Simple as that - it's not rocket science.
I hope you enjoyed this shorter vlog piece! Now I am back in London, it should be easier to do more vlog posts. Please leave a comment below. Thanks, terima kasih! I shall leave you with my two all time favourite MHO videos.
