Akan datang: Limpeh's Vlog

Hi guys, I've been having an amazing month with my blog so far despite being busy with work. We've not even reached the end of June yet and already this is my most successful month yet with 361,000 hits so far this month. I have decided that I am going to start vlogging more - it's not my first choice as I am put off by the amount of post production and editing that needs to be done, but I think that it will enable me to reach a brand new audience of people who don't have the patience to read a blog post but would gladly watch a Youtube video. It's an experiment but I am willing to try.

So for my first vlog piece, I am going to talk about some basic differences between the political system in Singapore and the UK. I am going to deal with a few basic differences and the format of it will be based on EatYourKimchi's TLDR and Professor Oh's KWOW - both highly successful Youtube channels that introduces various aspects of Korean culture to an English speaking international audience. Why reinvent the wheel?
So wish me luck as I start preparing for this. I am already anticipating the hate mail from Singaporeans already - so many people are going to hate me for my accent ('eh he say he Ah Beng from Ang Mo Kio one, den why he tok got slang-slang like Angmoh one har?') but you know what? I just don't give a damn. I should also do a piece entirely in Hokkien just to tell those losers that I speak Ah Beng Hokkien much better than them, so kindly stop bitching about the way I speak English like an Angmoh. LOL. I'll leave the Singlish to our favourite auntie from Jurong West Gandhimathi Muthusamy okay? Raining got ice cube one leh. Auntie we love you!

  1. lol, good luck! I was branded a "hater" by an old acquaintance on Facebook for suggesting that it was wrong for a MEWR official to make an invalid argument about PSI readings including PM2.5. Despite agreeing with most of the press release, I became "a whiner who cannot be fully satisfied" :P. Fun!

    1. Well I have scripted it and now just have to shoot it - gosh let's see how long that will take as I have broken it down into 5 parts = approx 6 mins. I have a zit on my face right now and I would rather wait for it to go away first. Yeah but this should be fun.

  2. Good one mate! Do release one in Hokkien. Or better yet, you can alternate between accents and languages as you go along. Show us your Ah-Beng-ness

  3. Just recorded a short piece - the sound quality isn't great, some of the video is out of focussed but you know what? I am going to put it out there anyway after doing a bit of editing. I am not sure how long the editing will take but I am going to invest in a clip mike for the next piece.

    1. OMFG, I recorded a 7 minute piece and realized that it was going to take AGES editing it. I have gotten it to a stage where i think it is half decent and I have spent ages just tweaking the sound to get it right, this feels like a full time job. Performing to the camera is the easy part, it is all this bloody editing that is frustrating the hell outta me. Sound check, intro ident + end credits check, now i am going to do graphics next when i can next find a few hours to spare - then I need to do titles and subtitles. Groan - this is hard hard hard work.

  4. Hi limpeh,
All the best for your vlog! I just will like to ask if you will still be posting on your blog, as I am the rare few who prefers to read things on a blog. Will still be following your vlog though.

    1. Yes I will still blog, cos it's a LOT easier than vlogging. Damn, there's soooo much editing to do before a piece is half decent and ready for youtube!!

    2. i am also not completely happy with my delivery... too corporate and formal, but it's still just the first vlog and the next ones will be more casual and fun.
