2 million page views + an important announcement

Hi there, I've just reached 2 million page views today! Whoopee, as well as 227,721 page views for the month of November - the second most successful month on my blog, thanks to a combination of the Alvivi saga and the SMRT PRC drivers' strike. Thanks to everyone who has been reading and following my blog, I wouldn't be doing this if there weren't so many of you reading my writing everyday!

Now, the important announcement. My regular readers will know that I spent quite a lot of time working in Singapore in 2011 - well, I have just been given the business plan by my company for 2013. The key market we're targeting in Switzerland and as I am French-speaking, I will be dealing with clients in Geneva. I did spend years dealing with the Swiss market in my previous job. Less exciting than Singapore - but it's what the boss wants - he has spotted a gap in the market in Switzerland and we're swooping in to fill that gap. Such is business. Singapore is not anywhere on the business plan - ah well. I shall have to pay for my own plane ticket and visit my family sometime in 2013 anyway. It's disappointing to say the least if I may be frank as I had drawn up big plans for a big push into the Thai, Filipino and HK markets but it's not going to happen now. Sigh and I had visions of having business meetings on a beach in Thailand - now it's more boardrooms in Geneva and Zurich. I know which I prefer.

You know, to be frank, the company has had some trouble in 2012, we've not had an easy year - but it's nice to see that my bosses are NOT simply rolling over and taking early retirement. Instead, they are spotting new opportunities, new gaps in another market we're not currently active in and trying a new business plan. I should be grateful that I don't have to look for a new job - gosh, even the thought of having to find a new job is pretty darn daunting and it is just a happy coincidence that I do have the right skills to fit into my company's new business venture. Phew.
