LIFT Vlog episode 11: Round Tripping Revisited

Hi all, I have experienced a huge spike in the traffic to my blog over the last 48 hours and you guys are very interested in the issue of round tripping. So I have revisited the issue in my latest vlog post - the sound quality is slightly better (I clipped the mike to my tie) but I think I will go back to speaking directly into the laptop for the next episode (which seems to produce the best sound quality). Still some technical issues to iron out, but we're getting there! It's a steep learning curve for me. In this episode, I have explained round tripping again but also discussed why this is a criminal matter.

To be honest, I am not that happy with this vlog piece as I think I had simplified it a bit too far - there is a balance to be struck between trying to keep it simple and making it clear. I sacrificed too much detail for the sake of brevity (and I really didn't want the video to be too long) - so by all means watch and enjoy the video, but also do go back to the original blog post on the issue of round tripping for a more detailed explanation please.

After all, I have seen a lot of people do a lot of crazy shit in the name of religion. When I was in Sri Lanka for example, I visited a town where people were so extremely poor - yet they were still bringing food, flowers and money to the local Buddhist temple with all these gold statues. And I'm like, what is going on here? You guys are so poor, so thin, you have so little... Please feed your children first, buy books for your children's education first before you build yet another gold statue in the temple! But such is the nature of free will - people are free to choose what they want to spend their money on, even if it means building a hundred gold statues in the local temple instead of funding the local school or hospital. It may seem senseless, even ridiculous to an outsider like myself visiting the country, but it does go to show how people can do a lot of crazy, illogical things with their money the moment religion is involved.

So if Sun Ho's misguided attempts to become a pop star in America was seen in that context, it can all be completely legal and legit - but why did they go down the illegal route of round tripping when there was a legal route available then? Who knows? I have discussed this in my video but really, the only people who know the true answer to that question are those who are involved.
