My K-pop party playlist
I dragged a friend of mine to a K-pop festival in London recently despite him not being into K-pop and whilst I knew most of the songs, he looked incredibly lost and thankfully there was an exhibition on Korean culture to occupy him at the festival. He was like, "but you don't speak Korean, how do you get into K-pop?" I told him that a lot of the lyrics are fairly mundane anyway to be honest, so it's more the whole package rather than the words per se. By the end of the evening, he actually said to me, "I think I might just be able to get into this K-pop thing, but where do I begin?" So this is for him and all my readers who are uninitiated into Hallyu Korean Wave. Here's a mix of my favourite K-pop tunes for you to get the party started - it is a mix of stuff from 2012 and some older hits which I still love. Enjoy!

Hi LIFT,
ReplyDeleteGangnam-style dancing is currently being offered in Singapore as a short course at a children's arts and academic enrichment cum tuition centre:

I also just stumbled upon this parody of the PSY Gangnam video, in tribute to the upcoming Hobbit movies, based on that Lord of the Rings prequel novel by Tolkien.
This music video joke is rightly about the Gandalf style:
